FAQs: RFID ACCESS AND TRACEABILITY

Have Question? We are here to help.

What style of RFID tag IDEC offer?

IDEC offers durable, color-coded fob and card style RFID tags that are easy to carry and designed to withstand harsh elements, ideal for industrial RFID readers and RFID access control systems.

How does IDEC RFID tag works?

Each RFID tag reader-compatible tag carries a unique ID, which is readily associated with specific workers or user categories to provide layered RFID access control at varying levels.

What operating frequency IDEC RFID reader operate at?

The KW2D industrial RFID reader operates at a standard 13.56 MHz high-frequency band (Type A, F, or V standards), typical for RFID sensor applications.

What security features are included in the IDEC RFID solution?

IDEC’s RFID system includes advanced encrypted message exchanges between the RFID tags/fobs and the RFID reader, enhancing security significantly beyond typical market offerings.

Is it possible to duplicate an IDEC RFID tag?

To address concerns about tag duplication, our KW2D RFID tags include an extra level of password encryption with a special bit to verify if the tag is an authentic IDEC tag, offering superior security compared to standard RFID tags

What type of RFID tag does IDEC use?

IDEC utilises passive RFID tags, which are lightweight and do not require batteries, ideal for sustainable RFID systems.

Is it mandatory to use IDEC RFID tags with the reader?

While IDEC RFID systems are optimised for IDEC tags, our devices also support third-party tags or badges. These RFID readers are flexible, working with any tag that operates at 13.56 MHz (Type A, V, or F standards).

How is the RFID device mounted?

This RFID device installs seamlessly into typical 22mm panel-mount holes, integrating easily with other industrial control elements like switches, buttons, and lights.

Is it possible to issue a new RFID tag without reprogramming using the software program and a computer?

Yes, new RFID tags can be issued without the need for reprogramming using the software program and a computer, by utilising the default authorisation levels provided. All IDEC tags are color-coded and preset with these authorisation levels.

Can this RFID product interface with other manufacturers' PLC and HMI systems?

Yes, our industrial RFID reader supports various industrial communication protocols, including Modbus TCP Server, EtherNet/IP Adapter, and CC-Link IE Field Basic Slave, ensuring compatibility across different manufacturers' PLC and HMI systems.
